Trigger Warning: This episodes has themes of the following topics and therefore we advise listeners to reflect on whether they should listen to this episode at this time. Sexual abuse, suicide, alcohol abuse, rape and domestic violence.

As a child Maxine experienced sexual abuse, domestic violence and an alcoholic parent and has survived rape and further abuse as an adult. Yet despite a life marked by hardship, Maxine brings to the world a fierce softness — someone who walks through the world with deep empathy and a creative fire that refuses to go out. Through poetry, painting, faith, and community, she has found a way to turn her pain into meaning, and in doing so, she shows others how healing and finding light in the darkness is possible.

This episode is about what happens when we start unmask our false self and reveal our truth — to ourselves, to others, through our art, and out loud.

If you’re ready to find your light behind darkness and walk the bright path you deserve and want inspiration to carry on, get listening 🎧
